CD60 Motor Starting Capacitor 500-550uF 330V AC Snap-In
The CD60 Motor Starting Capacitor in the 500–550 µF range is the top-capacitance tier of the CD60 family, built for large single-phase compressors and pump motors with heavy starting inertia. Rated 330V AC at 50/60 Hz, it delivers the strong phase-shift surge needed to crank cold-storage compressors, commercial freezers, and big well pumps past the stall zone.
Housed in a bakelite/phenolic resin shell with snap-in body and quick-connect tabs, it drops into standard brackets. This capacitor is strictly intermittent-duty: engaged for the few-second start window, then dropped out by a relay or centrifugal switch.
Key Features
- Top-Tier Capacitance: 500–550 µF (MFD), the largest step in the CD60 lineup.
- Voltage Rating: 330V AC, compatible with 110V–230V single-phase motor systems.
- Dual Frequency: Runs on both 50 Hz and 60 Hz supplies.
- Snap-In Mounting: Standard quick-connect terminals, no extra hardware.
- Durable Shell: Bakelite/phenolic resin case resists heat, shock, and vibration.
- Intermittent Duty: Start-only, not for continuous run.
- Non-Polarized: Either terminal orientation works in the start circuit.

Applications
Direct replacement for high-inertia start circuits:
Commercial Refrigeration
- Walk-in cooler and freezer compressors
- Reach-in commercial refrigerator compressors
- Ice machine compressors
HVAC & Cold Storage
- Large rooftop unit compressors
- Cold-room condensing units
- Low-temperature display cases
Water & Agriculture
- Deep well pumps
- Large booster pump stations
- Irrigation and livestock water systems
Industrial Equipment
- Stationary air compressors
- Conveyor drive motors
- Woodworking and metal shop machinery
Installation & Safety
- This capacitor is for motor starting only — must be paired with a functioning relay or centrifugal switch.
- Continuous operation will cause overheating, bulging, and premature failure.
- Lock out and tag the branch circuit. Verify zero voltage at the motor with a known-good tester before touching anything.
- Capacitors store charge after unplug. Discharge safely with a resistor before handling — high-capacitance units hold a dangerous charge.
- Match three things: µF range, AC voltage rating (330V AC or higher), and physical dimensions/bracket style.
