## Replacement Multimeter Test Leads – 85cm, 20A, CAT II 1000V
A solid set of universal replacement leads for your multimeter. Whether the
originals frayed, the tips bent, or you simply want a sharper probe for
poking into tight spots, this pair drops straight into any meter that takes a
standard 4mm banana plug.
### Built for Everyday Bench and Field Work
- **85cm (33.5") cable** – long enough to reach across a bench or into a
cabinet without stretching
- **Shrouded banana connectors** – the insulated sleeve around each plug
reduces the chance of accidental contact with live terminals
- **Molded strain relief** – flexible boot where the wire meets the plug and
the probe, so repeated bending doesn't break the conductor inside
- **Protective tip covers** – slip them on for safe storage in a toolbox or
drawer, and to keep the points from blunting
- **Super-sharp gold-plated copper tips** – fine points get into small pads,
tight connector pins and crowded PCBs; the gold plating resists oxidation so
contact stays clean

### Safety Notes – Please Read
- **Observe the rating.** These leads are rated CAT II 1000V. Do not use them
on CAT III or CAT IV circuits (mains distribution boards, industrial
panels, outdoor installations) unless your meter and the situation are
both rated for it.
- **20A is a short-duration rating.** High-current ranges on most meters are
limited to around 10–15 seconds of measurement followed by a cool-down
period. Check your meter's manual.
- Inspect the insulation, plugs and tips before each use. Do not use damaged
leads.
- Fit the tip covers when storing so the points don't cause injury or short
something out in the box.
- Keep fingers behind the finger guards on the probes when measuring.
### FAQ
**Will these fit my multimeter?**
They fit any meter with standard 4mm banana input jacks – that covers the
vast majority of handheld digital multimeters. If your meter uses a
proprietary or recessed connector, check the jack diameter first.
**Are they really gold plated?**
The tips are copper with a gold-coloured plating. It's there to keep the
contact surface from oxidising, not to carry more current.
**Can I use them for 20A continuously?**
No. 20A is the maximum rating, and on virtually all meters the high-current
range is timed. Use the 10A/20A jack only for short readings and let it cool
between measurements.
